Tira City Council members met at the community center on Tuesday night. They discussed the upkeep of the building and the electrical wiring for the fire hall, as well as the routine quarterly

business. Following the meeting, the group decorated for the community Christmas party, along with the help of Martha Payton, Daylee Fite and Morgan, Kenden and Jaidyn Joslin. The party will start at 6:30 p.m. this Friday, Dec. 7. Brisket, tea and coffee will be provided. Please bring a side dish or dessert and come enjoy a time of visiting with friends. Santa Claus is planning to drop in for a visit with the kids. Canned goods are being collected for the Sulphur Springs Meal-a-Day program.

We want to express our sympathy to the family of Phyllis L. Quarles. She was buried in the Tira Cemetery on Sunday afternoon. Phyllis was the wife of the late Billy Quarles and the daughter-in-law of Sue Godfrey Quarles, who grew up in Tira. Williams Funeral Home in Garland was in charge of the funeral.

Wes and Yvonne Weir went to the event at Heritage Park and on the square Friday night. Wes enjoyed riding a horse. On Saturday, Wes joined his friends at the Red River Valley Downs Syndrome Society and rode in a trolley as the grand marshals of the Christmas parade in Paris.

Cody, Chanse and Daylee Fite, Sherry Smiddy and Powell Vickery attended the fun on the square last Friday night. Daylee was excited to ride the ponies and see the white tigers. On Sunday, Sherry ventured to Rockwall with Daylee, Aysha Day and Lindsey Perry. They enjoyed shopping a little and fun in Rockwall.

Janie and Von Prahl, Dana Waggoner, Betty Weir and Mary Helen Atwood visited Helen Weir on Saturday. Janie, Von and Mary Helen were back to visit again on Tuesday.
