We want to express our sympathy to the family of Tanya Smiddy. She passed away on Saturday and her funeral service was today (Wednesday). Please remember this family in your prayers.
The Fall Carnival will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. this Friday at North Hopkins School. There will be great games, raffles and lots of fun! The Beta Club will be having a hamburger supper from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and the Book Fair will be open during the carnival. Come out and support the students.
The North Hopkins Alumni Homecoming is coming up on Saturday, Nov. 3. Registration and visiting will start at 5:30 p.m. Murray's Barbecue will be served at 6 p.m., and then a brief program and more visiting will follow. The cost for the meal is $10 per person, payable at the door. The Class of 1962 will be honored for their 50th reunion. We encourage all former North Hopkins students to contact their classmates and get a group together for the event.
Robert, Yvonne and Wesley Weir got up early Saturday and headed for Royce City to watch their granddaughter, Elise Campbell, play soccer. Then, they drove to Dallas, where they and their daughter, Destri, attended the Chihuly exhibit at the Dallas Arboretum, which Yvonne said was beautiful. They also had an early dinner at Mi Cochina.
Mick and Linda Petty met Tara Petty and Mike Owens Sunday for brunch at Culpepper's in Rockwall, in celebration of Tara's birthday, which was Oct. 23, and Mick and Linda's anniversary, which was the Oct. 22. Linda says, “The waffles and fried chicken were wonderful, as was the visit.”
Sandra Wester's niece, Susan Rogers, came down Wednesday afternoon and drove Sandra to Garland to spend Wednesday night with her sister, Peggy Deaton. Susan took Sandra to the hospital Thursday morning for treatment. Peggy sat with her for a while Thursday afternoon. After returning to Peggy's, Sandra's niece and great-niece, Kay and Abby Gentsch, brought her to Tira. On Friday, Virginia Price Miller took Sandra to Paris for a medical appointment, and they enjoyed lunch at the Sirloin Stockade and a quick stop at the Dollar Tree. Linda Andrasko arrived for a visit with Sandra on Saturday. Linda went to Sulphur Springs Monday afternoon to do some errands and visited with Grace Murray; then, she returned to Henderson Tuesday afternoon.
