We want to express our sympathy to the family of Bobby (Buck) Lawson. He passed away on Monday night. There will be a military graveside service at Rockdale Cemetery on Thursday at 11 a.m. Please keep this family in your prayers.

The Tira City Council will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 6 p.m. at the community center. The public is always welcome and encouraged to attend.
The North Hopkins school teachers and staff were treated to a delicious lunch at the Peerless Baptist Church last Tuesday and at First Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs on Thursday. The meals and hospitality were greatly appreciated!
Sandra Wester and her sister, Linda Andrasko, ran errands in Sulphur Springs on Thursday and did a little shopping. They enjoyed a late lunch at Chili's. On Friday, they went to Paris to the book store and enjoyed a late lunch at Sirloin Stockade. Linda returned to Henderson on Saturday. Saturday night Sandra went with Patti and Tommy Wiebold to the Farmer's Market on the square in Sulphur Springs. They enjoyed the music while they walked around and purchased a few items from the vendors.
Kathy Lennon reports, “I have tickets for an awesome meal on Friday, Sept. 7. One hundred percent of the proceeds go to the Boys and Girls Club of Hopkins County. The benefit is being sponsored by First United Methodist Church. First Presbyterian hosted this event last year and donated $5,000 to the club. Please support their efforts this year so we can again help out this worthy organization.” Take-out orders are also available for $5. Kathy says that tickets may be picked up at the church office or you may be able to make arrangements to have the tickets delivered.  For more information, please contact Kathy Lennon at 903-885-3124, ext. 122.
Chip and I visited Joe and Sandy Carlisle in Plano on Friday afternoon, and then went by to see David Stewart in Dallas. Later that night we met Linda Ellen Vaughn in Mesquite for dinner at the Olive Garden restaurant. On Saturday afternoon, we attended the Hot August Nights Barbecue Cook-off, which the Tira volunteer firefighters participated in. We also watched our grandson, Morgan Joslin, and the other Civil Air Patrol (CAP) cadets in their Color Guard ceremony.
I always need and appreciate input from my friends to help keep me informed of news in our community.
