The annual Aiguier Cemetery Homecoming is this Sunday, June 3. The group will enjoy a pot-luck lunch on the grounds, around noon, followed by a business meeting. In case of rain, the event will be moved to the North Hopkins School Cafeteria.

The Tira City Council will meet at the community center for the regular quarterly meeting on Tuesday, June 5, at 6 p.m. The public is always welcome and encouraged to attend.

The North Hopkins graduation ceremonies are coming up this week. The 8th grade graduation is at 7:30 p.m. Friday and the high school commencement will take place at 3 p.m. on Saturday, in the school gymnasium.

Mark Hixon reports that they spent the Memorial Day weekend “just hanging out, riding a few horses with customers, and eating BBQ.”

Rick and Judy Petty had a family get together for lunch at their home on Sunday. Guest of honor was Reagan Humphrey, their niece, who is graduating from Sulphur Springs High School next Friday. Others attending were James Humphrey; Shelly Humphrey; Hesston Humphrey; Fay Burns; Mick and Linda Petty; Ronnie, Amy, Mitchell and Macy Green; and Billy Joe Clayton.

Sandra Wester's sister, Linda Andrasko, came to visit her Thursday evening. On Friday evening they enjoyed the buffet at The Fish Place in Pecan Gap. Linda returned to Henderson on Saturday. That night Sandra went to Sulphur Springs to watch Daylee Fite and her team play two softball games. Sunday afternoon, Patti Wiebold and Sandra enjoyed a late lunch at Broadway Buffet. On Monday, Tommy Wiebold grilled ribs, sausage, chicken and vegetables and Sandra joined Tommy and Patti for a delicious meal.

Chip Vaughn was in Knoxville, Tenn., from Tuesday through Sunday, with the Sulphur Springs Middle School Destination Imagination (DI) team that he coaches along with Johnny Wells. Their team placed third in the Global Finals!

Tiffany, Kenden and Jaidyn Joslin attended a birthday party for Rachel Davidson, daughter of Landon and Amie (Vaughn) Davidson, on Saturday.

I had my own personal "scrapbooking retreat" at home over the Memorial Day weekend. I took time out on Sunday evening to pick up my mother-in-law, Grace Vaughn, in Sulphur Springs and we went to Dallas to visit Linda Ellen Vaughn. We all attended a Peruvian dinner and slide show at Linda's church, giving everyone a chance to learn about the mission trip to Peru, which Linda participated in.

On Monday afternoon, Malcolm, Tiffany, Morgan, Kenden and Jaidyn Joslin joined us for grilled hamburgers prior to Kenden's baseball game in Cooper.
