We want to express our sympathy to the family of Doug Estes. He passed away last Wednesday and was buried in the North Hopkins Cemetery on Saturday. Please remember his family in prayer.

The Annual Aiguier Cemetery Homecoming will be held on Sunday, June 3, on the cemetery grounds. The group will gather for a potluck lunch around noon, with a business meeting to follow.

The next regular quarterly Tira City Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 5, at 6 p.m. The public is always welcome and encouraged to attend.

Mick and Linda Petty attended the Sulphur Springs Athletic Banquet last Tuesday night where their granddaughter, Reagan Humphrey, received the girls basketball MVP award and was also the co-winner of the girls Forest Gregg MVP award for all sports. Linda and Mick were treated to dinner for Mother's day Saturday night by their son, James and again Sunday night by their daughter, Tara. Linda stated she could “really get accustomed to this eating out!”

Kevin and Dee Melton honored their Mothers, Margaret Eudy and DeLeen Melton, with a barbeque cookout on Sunday. A birthday celebration for nephew Baylee Graves added to the fun. Others in attendance were Dean Eudy; Larey Melton; Phil, Jeannie, Bryce and Kylee Graves; Kadee Melton; and Garrett Todd.

Tara Petty and Mike Owens hosted a dinner for Sherry Smiddy for Mother's Day. There were about 25 people there including Powell Vickery; Daylee and Chanse Fite; and Brandy, Aysha and Kathy Day. Daylee had a great time playing with Mikyla and Henley Owens. Sherry says that a wonderful meal was served and they watched the sun set over Lake Ray Hubbard from their deck.

Sandra Wester enjoyed lunch and visiting at Los Mochis Restaurant in Sulphur Springs on Wednesday with Betty Weir, Jo Nell Willis, and Virginia Julie Miller. After lunch she drove to Henderson to spend a few days with her sister Linda Andrasko. They enjoyed visiting and doing a little shopping. Linda's daughters, Karyn and Kelly, came late Saturday evening. They all attended church together Sunday morning and Karyn cooked a delicious lunch. A friend, Jean Colley, joined them for lunch and another friend, Sandi King, dropped by for a visit after lunch. Sandra returned home late Sunday afternoon.

Morgan Joslin was at Camp Mabry in Austin from Friday afternoon through Sunday afternoon for the Texas Wing Cadet Program — CTEP (Cadet Training and Education Program) Leadership School. While there the cadets had classes, physical training, drills, and wrote essays. On Sunday, they had a final exam, gave a 3-5 minute speech, and had their graduation ceremony, where they received a red and blue shoulder cord for their uniform.

Morgan Joslin and Allegra Thomas were named Mister and Miss North Hopkins Junior High.

Delayne Vaughn came to Tira on Friday to spend the weekend with us for Mother's Day. Delayne, Chip and I and Tiffany, Jaidyn and Rylan Joslin were among the many guests who attended a second birthday party for Casen and Carson Vaughn, twin sons of Josh and Nicole Vaughn, at their home on Saturday afternoon. Guests were treated to cotton candy, snow cones, popcorn and cake. Delayne, Grace and Linda Ellen Vaughn, Malcolm, Tiffany, Kenden, Jaidyn, Landon, Laiken and Rylan had Mother's Day lunch at our house. Chip, Tiffany and Delayne prepared a delicious lunch and treated Jan to a day off from cooking and cleaning, which she greatly appreciated! Delayne returned home to Waco on Sunday evening.
