On Easter weekend, Destri Weir and Alice Hall spent Saturday night with Robert and Yvonne Weir. Destri and Yvonne attended Easter sunrise services on the square of Cooper. Yvonne reports, “Dustin and Natalie Weir, Dacy, Mike, Eli and Elise Campbell, Malorie, Daniel and Desirea Velaquez all came for lunch and the egg hunt. Eli and Daniel would throw down the eggs with money and grab the candy ones.” Alice also spent Sunday night before returning to Carriage House. Alice's 90th birthday was last Tuesday, but she said she sure didn't feel 90. On Tuesday, they went to Mount Pleasant to watch the Hopkins County Coyotes compete in the Special Olympics.
Yvonne attended visitation for her friend Nancy Springfield on Friday night in Cooper. On April 15, Legacy Hospice (Yvonne's employer) hosted the April birthday party for the residents at Carriage House.
Yvonne also says, “Doug Thompson and Robert are working hard on their garden. Patti Wiebold's mother, Sue Miller Peeters, spent the weekend with Patti and Tommy. Patti picked her up at the home of Barry and Carolyn Miller in Mesquite after work on Friday and Tommy took her back there Monday morning on his way to work. Patti and Sue ran errands in Sulphur Springs on Saturday and visited with Sue's friend, Anna, Saturday afternoon. They went to visit with Kay Ashcroft Sunday afternoon.”
Morgan Joslin, son of Malcolm and Tiffany Joslin, was among the North Hopkins students who attended the Junior Beta Convention in Austin from Sunday through Tuesday. Morgan participated in the Quiz Bowl.
Chip Vaughn was in Corpus Christi with the Destination Imagination team that he and Johnny Wells coach at Sulphur Springs Middle School. They had advanced at the regional level and were there for the state competition.
My friend and colleague, Janice Franks, business manager of the Linden-Kildare school district, met me in Sulphur Springs on Sunday morning and we drove to Austin for the Texas Association of School Boards Risk Management Conference, where we received training which will be helpful in our jobs. We returned home on Tuesday evening.
