On Sunday, Jan. 15, Dustin and Natalie Weir came to Tira and spent the night with Dustin's parents, Robert and Yvonne Weir. Dacy (Weir) Campbell and Elise and Eli visited with them thatafternoon. On the following Thursday, Wesley and Yvonne Weir met the Campbells at the theater in Greenville and saw “Beauty and the Beast” but report that they were not impressed with the 3-D. On Friday Acie and Kiegan Shehan spent the night with the Weirs and “kept everyone quite amused.” Alice Hall, Yvonne's mother, visited them that weekend and went to church with Yvonne.
Bascum Lee Chapman III (Tres) and Summer Nicole Swindell were united in marriage at the New Life Baptist Church in Cooper on Jan. 21. Tres is the son of Bascum Lee and Diane Chapman Jr. and Jeff and Sheila Sotherlund. Summer's parents are Jeff and Rhonda Wells and Stanley Swindell. A reception was held at the Tira Community Center. The couple reside in Sulphur Springs.
Brad Dodd's wife, Tanya, went on a working cruise to Jamaica and the Cayman Islands recently. Brad and his son, Trenton, went hunting and Trenton got a 7-point buck. Matthew Dodd spent the night with his sister and brother-in-law and niece and nephew, Tiffany and Stuart McPherson and Tristan and Emory. Stuart played at Cowboy Stadium for the Cooper Alumni Football Team. Matthew got to go along with his sister and her family and his grandparents, John David and Jewel Jetton.
Janie and Von Prahl, Robert, Yvonne and Wesley Weir, and Joyce Dodd visited Helen Weir on Saturday. Dustin and Natalie Weir also visited Helen a couple of weeks ago.
Shelia Boyd and her granddaughter, Josie Boyd, enjoyed Saturday morning at the 4-H workshop in Sulphur Springs, along with several other area families. They made owl pillows to be given to rescue workers and the hospital for children in emergency situations. Sheila says, “All the kids had a great morning with all activities, including Josie and Memaw.”
