Tira volunteer firefighters responded to a grass fire on the Sandhill Loop on Friday. They also responded to a controlled burn on FM 1536 on Saturday.
Lane Allton Potts celebrated his 6th birthday on Saturday at Skate Magic. He is the son of Kelly and Nancy Potts. His mother reports, “He had a Transformer cake and received a bunch of cool things. It was a fun time with his family and friends.”
Mary Rawson and Nell Crowson went with the City National Bank Adventure Club to the Dallas Museum of Art and saw the King Tut Exhibit last Tuesday. They also enjoyed a good lunch while there.
There will be a baby shower for Joanna (Killian) Campbell on Saturday, Jan. 24. at the Tira Community Center from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. It's a boy! Gunner Avery Campbell was born on Dec. 23, 2008, and weighed 5 pounds, 9 ounces
Yvonne Weir, Alice Hall and I met Brenda Allen of Yantis for lunch at Chili's on Monday. We were celebrating Christmas late and Brenda's birthday early.
I met Liz Steinsiek at the Broadway Buffet last Sunday and treated her to a late birthday lunch. Charlotte Holland and Pat Goggans met us there, too. We had not been able to coordinate our schedules during December, and then Liz was gone during the holidays to visit her son, Michael, and his family in Colorado Springs and her daughter, Tonja, and her family in Chicago.
I guess it was another slow week in Tira. I would like to encourage the residents to get busy making more news soon (ha, ha)!
