Robert and Laura Jones went to her hometown of Graham, Texas, on June 11, as she had been asked in January to be the Graham Relay for Life 's entertainment speaker and to do the "Fight Back" talk. They got there and checked into the hotel in time to get to the Relay kickoff at 6 p.m. They had dinner and opening ceremonies and lots of games and fun. The Fight Back Ceremony was at 12:30 a.m. and she gave her talk and shared about her own battle with lung cancer. On Saturday she got to spend time with her best friend of 30 years, Shawana Riddle, and later that night Robert and Laura went out to eat at Montana's. Sunday they went and spent time with Jessie and Faye Pierson, who are longtime family friends. Then they went to take pictures of the new high school and new stadiums on the other side of town and then started the four-hour drive home. It was a long weekend, but she was excited about being able to share her story with others and offer hope and encouragement. Relay is an event each year that has been very near and dear to her years before she had cancer herself. She reports that being able to be a part of such an awesome event in her hometown made it even sweeter!
