Martha Payton reports that the Tira Methodist Church will be saying "goodbye" to their pastor, Ed Dodd, on June 30. He will begin serving Roxton United Methodist Church on July 1. The Tira congregation wishes him well in his new location.


TIRA NEWS June 19, 2013

The Tira Homecoming will be held on Sunday, July 7. A program will begin in the Tira Methodist Church at 11 a.m., followed by a covered dish lunch on the grounds. Make plans to come and enjoy the food and fellowship. Contributions for the upkeep of the cemetery grounds are always needed and appreciated. Donations may be given that day or mailed to the Tira Cemetery Association, c/o Floyd Payton at 1601 County Road 4612, Sulphur Springs, Texas 75482.


TIRA NEWS June 12, 2013

We want to express our sympathy to Jimmy Lewis and his family. Jimmy's father, Troyce Lewis, of Weaver passed away on June 6. His funeral service was held on Monday at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home, followed by a military graveside service under the direction of the Hopkins County Military Coalition at the Weaver Cemetery. Please remember the family in your prayers.

Mark your calendars for the Annual Tira Homecoming, which is scheduled for the first Sunday in July. The program will begin at 11 a.m., followed by a covered-dish luncheon on the grounds.

The Tira City Council will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5, at the Community Center. The public is always welcome and encouraged to attend.
