We’ve turned over another year on the calendar and begun 2011 with hopes and aspirations for a wonderful and prosperous year. This is hoping that everyone ate their black-eyed peas, cabbage and other traditional Southern fare to make certain that 2011 will be the best year yet.

I visited with Vera Harrington this week as she made her rounds around Hopkins County. She attended the stew hosted for County Commissioner Burke Bullock’s retirement at the Precinct 2 County Barn, and then made an appearance on Saturday night at the Reilly Springs Jamboree.

Perhaps we can safely say that we’ve missed the “freezing-falling” stuff for another week or so as the temperatures last night didn’t fall as low as predicted. I’d love to see a beautiful snowfall just so long as the roads stay clear and we are able to negotiate them with ease.

Folks, it’s the first day of December, and 2010 is winding down. I don’t know about you folks, but it seems like the years continue to get faster and fasterk and before you turn around, it’s time to start another one. Can you remember when you were younger thinking that a year would hardly ever come to an end, and now it seems like you blink and it’s already past.
