Sunday evening we had a very unwelcome visitor at our house. We heard something on the porch and when we opened the door we were surprised to find a fight going on between one of ourdogs and a skunk. Before we could get back to the porch with a gun the skunk had sprayed and was gone. The dog was gone, too. I guess the smell was just too much to bear
Just when I think no one reads this news column, I get a note or phone call from someone who says that they read it every week. This week a lady from Tulsa, Okla., e-mailed me and told me that she faithfully reads about our Miller Grove news. I wonder how many other folks from out of state read about our small community?

Friday is our basketball teams’ first district game of the season. Our opponents will be the Saltillo Lions. This will be the “Coaches vs. Cancer” basketball game that we have each year. Proceeds from the selling of “Coaches vs. Cancer” T-shirts will be sent to the American Cancer Society. I’m sure they will have some of the pink T-shirts for sale at the ball game.
Billy and Jean Wren were recently visiting relatives in the Center Point community.
I heard that Fan Sparks is making some progress. Her son, Ray Lynn, told me that she is now able to sit up and keep her balance, and grip things with her hand. He said her progress is slow, but steady. Hopefully, she will continue to improve each day.
Mrs. Kim Irby found out lately that she will be a grandmother again. Her son and daughter-in-law that live in Arizona are expecting a child. Her daughter (from the metroplex area) just had a baby in December.
