I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. My family’s holiday was quite and somewhat uneventful. We had a late lunch with my brother, sister-in-law and niece. Nothing big, since we had one Thanksgiving last Sunday at my cousin’s house.

I heard that there will be an upcoming fundraiser for Fran Sparks. FEC and some of the local cowboy churches are going to have a Ranch Rodeo at HC Burns’ roping arena on Dec. 12 at 1 p.m. That is about all the information I have on the event. If anyone can give more details, please let me know.

Jim Potts wanted me to let everyone know that South Liberty Baptist Church is having a fundraiser to benefit the SANMA’s Medical Hospital in India. There will be a 42 dominoes tournament and volleyball tournament on December 5th at the church. Lunch will be available ; check-in will begin at 10 a.m. The volleyball team entry fee will be $60 and the dominoes team entry fee will be $20. If you have any questions feel free to contact Jim Potts or Barry Smith. You can also visit the following website: http://www.sanma.org/southliberty.

Last week, I forwarded all of the information needed to apply for a historical marker for the cemetery to the marker chairman of the Hopkins County Historical Commission, who has already submitted it to the state. Now we just wait to hear if we have been selected to receive a historical marker for the cemetery. Everyone keep your fingers crossed that our application is accepted.

Remember that Friday and Saturday will be the big Miller Grove Basketball Tournament. Several teams are scheduled to play throughout the tournament.

Kerry Garmon had a heart attack Saturday and was taken to a Tyler hospital (ETMC I believe). From my understanding, he has not regained consciousness since he had the heart attack. Please keep Kerry and his family in your prayers. Kerry’s mother, Elaine, just returned from a trip to New York during the Thanksgiving holiday.

For those of you who have Internet access, Inge Heijligers has made a page on Facebook for Miller Grove Sports fans. She is posting all sorts of information about MG sports on the page. Just search for the “Go Hornets” group on Facebook.

Here is an ending thought: Abraham Lincoln once said, “If you look for the bad in people expecting to find it, you will surely will.” That is a saying that we could all learn from.
