Happy early Thanksgiving everyone!

I got an e-mail from Gail Garmon the other day. She wanted me to relay the message that County Line Baptist Church is having its Ladies' Holiday Night coming up on December 5 at 6 p.m. This year’s theme is "Patterning Your Life," and there will be a special fashion show. There is no registration fee, but ladies are asked to bring your favorite salad and come enjoy the fun. Please make reservations by Sunday, Nov. 29, by calling Gail Garmon at 903-459-3312 or Pattie Lennon at 903-598-2535.

I was unable to go to the volunteer fire department’s grand opening Sunday. When I passed by the fire station I saw several cars. I hope they had a good turn-out.

Sunday was the Thanksgiving dinner for my Mom’s side of the family. We met at a cousin’s house on State Highway 19. This year we had 63 people in attendance. We had lots of great food and we were able to visit throughout the afternoon.

Happy birthday this week to Stevie Tipps on Nov. 22, Jessica (Wagley) May on Nov. 25, Brian Lennon on Nov. 26, Lori Evans on Nov. 27, and Steve Dodd on Nov. 28.

Happy 66th wedding anniversary to H.C. and Mary Lou Akins on Nov. 25. Congratulations to them for all of their years of wedded bliss.

Faye Tipps received a phone call from Ruthie Millsap Monday afternoon. She is now living in a northern state (I can’t remember which one) with her daughter Patricia Mullins and family. Some of you may remember when Ruthie’s children went to school at Miller Grove. They were Elizabeth, Charles, Patricia, Ronnie and Donnie Millsap.

Monday night the MG varsity girls lost their basketball game by only one point to the Campbell Indians, but the boys won by several points. The Hornets faired well in the Tuesday night game against the Mineola Yellow Jackets.

I know this week’s news is not very long, but there will be more next week. I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving and remember to be truly thankful for everything and everyone in your life.

As you travel the highways and byways, don’t forget that all roads lead home and back to Miller Grove. Please send me any newsworthy information. My e-mail address is This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
