A fundraiser benefiting the Tira Volunteer Fire Department is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Tira Community Center. An enchilada dinner is being provided by Ta Molly's out of Paris. Serving will begin at 6 p.m. and continue “'til gone.” A silent auction will be going on throughout the evening, too. Please make plans to attend and show your support for the firefighters.
Several of the ladies of the North Hopkins Class of 1961 met at Los Mochis in Sulphur Springs for lunch on Thursday and to celebrate the upcoming birthday of Wynelle Lawson Belz. Those attending the lunch were Jo Nell Crowson Willis, Mary Sue Palmer Clayton, Virginia (Julie) Price Miller, Catheron Smith Camper, Betty Weir, Sandra Wester and Wynelle. Everyone enjoyed the lunch and the visit.
Daylee Fite celebrated her third birthday at the city park in Sulphur Springs on Saturday. Everyone wore “Tiinkerbell” party hats and ate cake and ice cream. Those attending included Sandra Wester; Suzan Miller; Tara Petty; Mike Owens; Leda, Chris and Mikyla Owens; Judy Roberts; Lesley and Addey Owens; Debbie Harris; Chris, Jenna, Ally, Braden and Emma Vickery; Brandon, Stormy and Angel Vickery; Brandi, Kathy and Aysha Day; Chanse and Cody Fite; Cade and Catan Runyan; Jennifer and Boston Peeks; Sherry Smiddy and Powell Vickery.
Dustin Weir and Natalie spent Sunday and Monday with Robert and Yvonne Weir. Shana, Bobby and Caleb Parkinson visited them on Friday night. Yvonne reports, “We are loving the nice weather.”
Tiffany, Landon and Jaidyn Joslin joined Chip and me and Landon's friend, Chelsie Edwards, attended Rhett Vaughn's first birthday party at Kid's Kingdom in Sulphur Springs on Saturday. Rhett is the son of Josh and Nicole Vaughn. He had lots of other family and friends there and received many nice gifts. We also went to Kathryn Brandenburgh's 80th birthday party at the Church of the Nazarene that afternoon, along with many other well-wishers. Morgan and Kenden Joslin went to Mount Pleasant that day with Chuck Olmsted. They visited one of Chuck's friends, who has airplanes, and they also did some fishing while there and caught several bass. Jerry Wayne and Gail Smiddy spent a few days at their Tira home and Malcolm Joslin helped Jerry Wayne with some projects over the weekend.
