Let’s start with a few birthdays this week. Happy B-Day to my mother (Lynda Darrow) on May 10, Travis Lennon on May 11, Laryn Cummings on May 12, and Jesse Weaver on May 15. May 11 would have been my grandfather's 92nd birthday (Wade Darrow) and Buster Tipps' 80th birthday if they were still living.
I hope all of the mothers in the area had a nice Mother's Day. We went to church and out to eat. That was about it. We took my niece to church for the first time Sunday. She did pretty good to just be 16 days old.
I wasn't able to make it up to the school this weekend to see the fire department's annual car show. I heard that everyone had a nice day and the turnout was pretty good. This was Miller Grove Volunteer Fire Department's 4th Annual Car Show.
Tonight will be a hamburger supper for the 2009 graduating class hosted by County Line Baptist Church. County Line has had a hamburger supper for the graduating class for several years now.
Mr. Watson and Mrs. Potts are planning a big FFA Banquet this year in honor of the Miller Grove FFA Chapter's 75th anniversary. The banquet will be Monday, May 18, at 6 p.m. If you plan on coming, please RSVP by calling the school at 903-459-3288. Past and present FFA members as well as ag teachers and FFA chapter presidents will be recognized. Plans call for special awards that will be presented to deserving students, a pictorial slideshow, and guest singers to be present. So if you have ever had an affiliation with the Miller Grove FFA Chapter, please come join us.
Marlene Sturdevant has been in the hospital the last few days. She has tubes in her back from a staph infection but was able to come home Monday afternoon.
