Last Wednesday night, County Line Baptist Church hosted its annual senior hamburger supper for all of Miller Grove’s senior class. Several seniors and their families showed up this year. The church’s Family Life Center was pretty much full with a lot of their regular members and then the school personnel, not to mention the graduates’ families. They served burgers, chips, dips, desserts and tea. And, take it from me, those folks know how to make some burgers! All of the food was excellent.

It was really good to see a lot of the folks from the County Line church. I know they live here in the community but some of them I don’t get to see too often. Then, toward the end of the night Bro. Wayne Darty gave each of the seniors a gift from the church. I think it’s safe to say that everyone there had a good time.

Happy birthday this week to George Callan, Paul Garrett, Pattie Lennon, Dillon Tipps, and Connie (Tipps) Briggs on May 19; Kim Irby and Laura Kay (Russell) Peek on May 22; Leslie Wagley on May 23; and Bertha Ann (David) Sparks on May 25.

Happy seventh anniversary to Kevin and Michelle Tipps on May 20, 18th anniversary to Scott and Christy Wren and 30th anniversary Bar- ry and Julie Smith on May 21, and 28th anniver- sary to David and Tammie (Garrett) Winstead on May 25.

Quick Reminder: Thursday night will be the Athletic Awards Ceremony and Saturday will be the Miller Grove Car Show hosted by the Volun- teer Fire Department.

The end-of-school stew will be coming up on May 31. We will serve beef and chicken stew in the cafeteria from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with the school providing the desserts. Donations will be accepted to help cover the cost of stew and pro- ceeds going to the Alumni Association to award scholarships at graduation. Then, that night we will have some alumni basketball games. If you would like to play, you need to contact Gary Billingsley or Sara (Garmon) Price to be added to the team’s ros- ter. I really hope we have a good turn-out this year. Last year, we didn’t have much of a crowd but the games were played on the Memorial Day weekend so I’m expecting to see more folks this year.

Just a brief reminder about the school reunion that is coming up. Lori (Combs) Northcutt is plan- ning a reunion for the Miller Grove classes of 1979 and upward for June 14 and 15 at MG school. I will have more information about the event the closer we get to June.

As you travel the highways and byways don’t forget that all roads lead back home and back to Miller Grove. Please send me any newsworthy information. My email address is brd_2@hot- mail.com.
