Just when we started to enjoy the warmer weather, here comes a cool front. The weather was so nice until this weekend when a cool front came in and brought back the feeling of winter. I, for one, am ready for spring!
Last Sunday, the Miller Grove Methodist Church gave Pat Garrett a going away party. She is moving back to Archer City to be near her children. I wish her the best of luck in this new journey she is taking in life.
Evelyn Echeverio hosted her annual Easter Egg Hunt for friends and family on Saturday. Despite the rain and cooler temperatures, there was a good turn-out as children and parents gathered at the community center.
I have heard that Pamela and Halston Potts’ baby (Jack) is growing and his health is improving. He may have to have a surgery to close the valve in his heart, so please continue to keep the Potts family in your prayers.
Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten roundup will be held from April 8-12. Anyone interested in enrolling their child for the new school year may come to the campus and complete the enrollment paperwork. Please bring all necessary documents (birth certificate, Social Security card, shot records, parental driver’s license and proof of residence in the district) when you come to enroll your child. Pre-k age students who do not qualify for the free or reduced lunch program may enroll and pay a tuition fee of $300 per six weeks. Pre-k students must be 3 years old on or before Sept. 1; kindergarten students must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1.
Miller Grove school will have a large turn-over this coming year since there are so many folks on campus retiring. I know that Richard Watson’s retirement was announced at the Junior Market Livestock Show last month. Others professing their retirement, along with Richard, include Dwayne and Kathy Wren, Sandi Watson and Pattie Lennon. We all wish them the best after their many years of service to the school district.
