I have a few corrections from last week’s news. First off, Lance and Kelly Mabe’s baby is named Kaden. When I talked to some of Lance’s family,
I thought they said Hayden, but I was mistaken. Also, when I mentioned the Homecoming basketball game, I said that they boys went into a fifth quarter instead of saying overtime. I don’t know why I said “fifth quarter” since each quarter is one fourth of a game. Dwayne Wren made a good point when asked me what a “fifth quarter” was. I probably wouldn’t have noticed the mistake if not for him.
Faye Tipps’ health has been improving since last week. She thought that she may have had a touch of pneumonia. Darlene Flecker is still recovering from her knee surgery. Her daughter, Robyn, told me that she is doing much better and getting around with the help of crutches. Hopefully she will be back to full speed before too much longer.
This week I was finally able to finish all of the requirements that we were lacking on the Historical Cemetery application. I was able to get it in the mail on Monday, so maybe we will know before too much longer if the Texas Historical Commission will approve our application. Everyone keep your fingers crossed.
Happy birthday to Larry McElvy and Jesse Ballentine on Feb. 8, Clay Smith and Brooke Burns on Feb. 9, Vanessa Tipps on Feb. 11, RA Long and Floyd “Demp” Sturdevant on Feb. 12, Jade Spencer and Shanda Barron on Feb. 13, and Gay Nell Walls and Jim Bob Bishop on Feb. 14.

One day last week someone’s trash was scattered across FM 2653 in front of Patsy Yates’ home. I noticed it as I passed going to school and wondered what happened. Trash was everywhere. It took Patsy, Dahl Renshaw (her sister) and Ralph Middleton quite a while to pick up the mess. I think that the culprit has been caught and I heard that he apologized to Patsy for the trash falling out of the back of his truck.
Remember the upcoming water board meeting and supper later in the month.
Little Dribblers have started practicing and their games will be coming up pretty soon.
