For the last few weeks I have neglected to mention the new addition to the Garmon clan. I was speaking with Gail Garmon on the phone the other day and she filled me in on her and

Woody’s newest grandbaby. Porder Ross Price was born on Dec. 6, 2012, to Brandon and Sara (Garmon) Price. Little Porder’s arrival was anxiously awaited by his big brother, Pacen Price. Porder weighed 6 pounds, 9 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long. He was born in Presbyterian Hospital of Rockwall. Local grandparents are Woody and Gail Garmon of Miller Grove. Porder’s great-grandparents are June and the late Paul Garmon of Miller Grove.

After Friday night’s basketball games (Jan. 25), the school will honor the basketball teams of 1983 who went to the third game of the regional playoffs. This would be the team’s 30th anniversary since their playoff action. 1983 Hornet team members were Clint George, Teddy Jennings, Ricky Jennings, Monty Tipps, Brad Anderson, Jeff Seiber, David Key, Doug Hall, Leslie White and Brian Lennon. Lady Hornet team members were Kim Potts, Robin Garrett, Shelly Ragan, Sherry Ragan, Christi Wilcox, Vonda McWilliams, Julita Petty and Cathy Weatherly. Each team was coached by Don Hobson. I hope we have several on hand for the ceremony that night. Everyone is invited to attend and show your support for our alumni. Out of both teams, only one member, Christi Wilcox, has passed away since that time. Christi will always be missed by her many friends in our community.

Pearlie Garrett, wife of Hope Garrett, passed away recently. I do not know the particulars, but I knew that she and Hope were living in a nursing home in Terrell, near their children.

Happy birthday this week to my uncle James Ragan and to June Watson on Jan. 20, Cheri Tipps on Jan. 21, Misty Smith and John Weaver on Jan. 22, Josh George on Jan. 23, Larry Mabe and Susan (Scott) Crank on Jan. 24, and my uncle Johnny Darrow and to Trudy (Dicken) Mayers on Jan. 26.
