This Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Miller Grove hosted a girls basketball tournament. The Lady Hornets won two out of four games, but didn’t walk away with any place in the tournament. Maybe next year, girls.
I saw one of my good friends, Jeremy Blackstead, in Wal-Mart the other day. I don’t get to see him much since he graduated in 2010. I also heard that Jeremy bought a boat the other day. I’m sure he’s looking ahead to this spring when he can go fishing and noodling.
Sunday, my mother’s side of the family had their annual Thanksgiving meal. This year we gathered at the Brashear Baptist Church’s Family Life Center. We had less than usual in attendance. Several family members had to work, etc. But, we all had a good time getting together and eating some good food.
Gail Garmon asked me to let everyone know that there will be a Ladies Holiday Night at County Line Baptist Church on Friday, Nov. 30, at 6:30 p.m. The theme this year is “O Holy Night,” and there will be three guest speakers to enjoy that night. Ladies are invited to bring their favorite salad and come join the fun at County Line. Please call Gail (903-459-3312) or Pattie Lennon (903-598-2535) to RSVP for the event no later than Sunday, Nov. 25. For those of you who don’t know where the County Line church is located, it is about four miles south of Miller Grove on FM 275 South.
Happy birthday this week to Robert Sisk and Neal Alexander on Nov. 18, Callie (Smith) Glover on Nov. 20, Ryan Vaughan on Nov. 21, and Stevie Tipps and Shelley (Watson) Rater on Nov. 22.
I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving this week. Remember the intention of Thanksgiving before you begin eating your Thanksgiving meal. It is a time to reflect and to be truly thankful for the blessings we all have in our life.
