Miller Grove’s playoff baseball games last week were short lived when we were up against Carlisle. Although, I thought our boys did extremely well especially for being up against a school that was ranked seventh in state. Both games were played in Van, one on Thursday night and one on Friday night. MG was defeated Thursday 9-0 and Friday 10-0. We now hold the title of Bi-District Champs, an honor that we haven’t received in quite some time. Congratulations boys on a job well done.

Miller Grove Volunteer Fire Department’s car show Saturday wasn’t as successful as it has been in the past. I think the weather was the main factor. I was glad to get the rain, but I believe it hampered the number of participants in the show. Usually the parking lots at school are full from one end to the other with vintage and souped-up vehicles. This year about half of the parking lot was taken up.

Miller Grove’s annual End-of-School Stew is set for Friday, May 25. I hope lots of you will be able to attend. Several community members were on hand last year and I hope we have as many or more this year. After lunch will be our second annual Seniors vs. Faculty Softball Game. FEC has been kind enough to agree to sponsor t-shirts for the softball players again this year. And, don’t forget the Alumni Basketball Games that will start that night around 6 p.m.

Miller Grove’s High School baccalaureate services will be Sunday, May 27, at 6 p.m. in the Miller Grove Methodist Church.

Happy birthday to Christy Wren on May 13; Tommie Jean Lennon on May 14; Jesse Weaver on May 15; my Aunt Betty Phillips on May 16; George Callan, Paul Garrett, Connie Briggs and Dillon Tipps on May 19.

Happy second anniversary to Kimberly and Cole Burnett on May 15.

As you travel the highways and byways don’t forget that all roads lead home and back to Miller Grove. Please send me any newsworthy information. My e-mail address is This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
