Wasn’t the weather great last week? Now that we have gotten this much rain, the pools are full, the rye grass is green and thick, and the trees are budding out. I have heard several folks make the comment that we got over 4 inches of rain.

Happy Birthday this week to Fran Sparks, Joe Weatherly, and Jenny (Weatherly) Arledge on March 18; Gary Darrow and Jim Burns on March 21; Ann (Kernes) Moseley on March 22; Sheena (Petty) McCraw and Pamela Potts on March 23; and Clinton Lennon on March 24.

A few days back I forgot to mention that it was Ginger (Gilley) Heard’s birthday on March 6. Ginger just got back home to Rockwall from visiting her cousin Patsy Johnson Hallman in Nacogdoches and she told me she and her sisters had a great time. Patsy and her husband, Leon, took them on a site seeing tour of Nacogdoches, the oldest town in Texas, and showed their guests a great time while they were there.

Happy 34th Anniversary to my parents, Brett and Lynda Darrow, on March 18.

Colton and Brittany (Holley) Gammill brought their baby to church (Brashear Baptist) Sunday. They introduced him to the congregation as a first-time guest. Little Hagan Reed Gammill just turned 5 months old. He was born Oct. 14, 2011.

Opal Faye Terry Morgan passed away last week. I know several of you will remember when she went to school at Miller Grove in the 1940s. She was part of the MG girls basketball team that went to state in 1945-46. She and May Gene Pennington were the high point players on the girls “B” team. Opal Faye Morgan was born the daughter of Hubert and Eliza Hassell Terry on Feb. 6, 1929, in Emory. She married Charles Morgan in 1955. Opal Faye passed away on March 8 in Sulphur Springs. A memorial service will take place at Elm Baptist Church in the Elm community of Rains County this Saturday.

Several people have asked me who the graveside service was for in the cemetery on Saturday. William Dennis Johnson was born March 31, 1962, in Dallas County, Texas. Dennis passed away June 7, 2011, and his memorial service was held Saturday, March 17, 2012. Many of you will know his father, Bill “Junior” Johnson. Bill grew up in Miller Grove just down the road from the Methodist Church, by the blacksmith’s shop.

Just a reminder about the Spring Extravaganza that will be hosted by the Pilot Club this Saturday, March 24. For more information you may contact Kathy Lennon or go to the Pilot Club’s website sspilotclub.org.

As you travel the highways and byways, don’t forget that all roads lead home and back to Miller Grove. Please send me any newsworthy information. My e-mail address is
