It is already time to deal with the end of Daylight Savings Time. This coming Sunday we will have to “fall back” by turning our clocks back one hour. It is amazing how this one little adjustment can wreak havoc with our lives!
Friday, of course, was the Miller Grove school’s fall carnival. The PTO made over $4,000 and the individual classes all did quite well this year on making money. Despite the volleyball game that was being played that night, we did have several community members and parents helping support the school. A big “Thank You” goes out to everyone who supported the school by coming to the carnival. I know there were more than usual playing bingo that night. The cafeteria was filled with people at the beginning of the bingo game. I heard that there were quite a few folks that came to eat stew and chili.
Monday morning there was a one-car wreck at the crossroads of FM 1567 and FM 275. I heard that the lady was not hurt.
Sadly, our volleyball girls lost their game Friday night. We are now second in district. Our bi-district playoff game was played Tuesday night against the Price-Carlisle Indians. The game was played in Gladewater, but our Lady Hornets lost the first three sets and ended up being defeated by the ladies from Carlisle. They had a good season, and most of the girls will still be seen on the court since basketball is just around the corner.
Happy birthday to Scott Wren on Oct. 31, Jeramie Burns on Nov. 1, Abbi Tipps and Mark Garrett on Nov. 3, and Peggy Weatherly on Nov. 5.
