The rain last weekend was very nice. We had 1.1 inch, and we loved it. Let’s hope the rain keeps coming. Tom had planted his fall garden right before the rain and now everything he planted is up.
I would like to begin by letting everyone know that I made a mistake on the date of the community wide meeting with the commissioners and judge. It will be Sept. 24 at the community center. Sorry about the wrong date before. They would appreciate that you come and give them some feedback about the jail and the budget. Thanks.
I received a call from Beth Wisenbaker and she would like to have a community meeting at our Community Center on Sept. 24, at 6:30 p.m. Please put this on your calendar so you can have a voice on plans for our county. The county judge, commissioners, and Sheriff Butch Adams will be there to hear what you have to say about the new jail (whether to build or improve old one), and other budget concerns. If you want to find out more, come and hear what is going on in our county.
Brashear News columnist Debbie Young has been adapting to her new computer. To add insult to injury, she had to deal with a temporary Internet failure too. Consequently, she was not able to get her Brashear News in before the News-Telegram weekly deadline for Community News. And, unfortunately, other commitment will likely prevent her from having news during the next two weeks as well.
However, this afternoon she's happy to report that the computer and Internet "up and working."
She also offers this reminder:
Don't forget our Clothing Sale at FUMC on Saturday, Aug. 24. Time is 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. Every item is only twenty-five cents.
Come out and find some great bargains for Back to School.
Debbie Young called in to report she is still having computer issues and thus is still unable to prepare her weekly news column. But, if all goes according to plan she will have her system back up and running by next week in time to prepare Brashear News for the Aug. 21 edition of the News-Telegram.
