I would like to begin by letting everyone know that I made a mistake on the date of the community wide meeting with the commissioners and judge. It will be Sept. 24 at the community center. Sorry about the wrong date before. They would appreciate that you come and give them some feedback about the jail and the budget. Thanks.

Fall Festival is in full swing. Friday is Senior Citizen Day so if you would like to have a good time come out and join the fun at the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center. The event starts on 800 at Buford Park with a 1K for everyone over 50. Now none of you young people who love to run show and show up this old lady. There will be ribbons by ages. Come out and run or walk. My trainer figured that a 1K is almost the equivalent of 0.625 of a mile. I’ve got this. I hope! Karon has planned several games you can win horseshoes, washer toss, etc. I know she would love all of you to come out and take advantage of Senior Citizens Day at the Fall Festival.

Sure hope everyone saw that the Quilt Show will be held at The ROC. There will be also be a shuttle running between the ROC and the Civic Center. Be sure and stop by and see how talented these women are who made the quilts.

I have heard that fall may be just around the corner. Cooler weather is what I am talking about. Rain is very likely this weekend. It is so needed. As you drive around all you see are more trees dying and dead grass. Pray for rain.

Tom and I have started our Divorce Care back up and were disappointed last week when no one showed up. This is a great program for those going through divorce or separation. You end up with a support group and a journal to help you work through this experience. Call us at 903-413-1673 for more information.

Last night, we got to experience T-ball night at the ball park. It has been a while since we have been around when the games are going on. I enjoyed it a lot of course my grandson’s team won but I also got to see a lot of my ex-students and it made my day. You know that is one of the greatest joys of being a teacher having students from the past come up and say hello.

Don’t forget about the Dinner Bell on Wednesdays at Wesley Methodist Church. The food is there for those who might need a hot meal. The time is 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. They also take call in orders.

I am sitting at my daughter’s house watching the school traffic drive by. For this country girl, I cannot believe how congested it can get here in Sulphur Springs.

I would like to put a shout out for some things I have heard that is happening to some people from Brashear. Michelle at Idtzibitsy Bakery , the Brashear store, and Sharon Moore’s Grub Wagon are serving up some good food. Check it out.

I have run out of information for news this week. Please remember I love to hear from all of you. Call me at 903-612-8806; email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , or just stop by CR 1119 for a visit.
