Brashear Homecoming report is that they feed over 80 people. A great turnout and I am so sorry I was unable to attend. I am looking forward to hearing more from everyone that was there.

Naoma Potts is so proud this year. She has a grandson, Charlie Potts, and three great grandsons, David Almon, Tanner Potts and Christian Contreras, graduating from high school. Charlie Potts is graduating from Cumby High School and is the son of Larry and Vicki Potts. Christian Contreras is graduating from Cumby High School and is the son of Allen and Carol Baxter. Tanner Potts is graduating from Como-Pickton High School and is the son of Jimmy and Tansy Potts. Last, David Almon is graduating from Martin High School in Arlington and is the grandson of Linda and Geary Almon here in Brashear. I know Naoma is one proud grandmother.

I would like to ask the following people — firefighters, police officers, sheriff deputies, EMT personnel, first responders and military personal (active and veterans) — to pay close attention to the next statement. Brashear Baptist Church would like for you to send a picture of yourself to one of the following: Rodney and Jennifer Caudle, Donna Smith or Brashear Baptist Church. Please make sure your name is on the back of the picture so that you may get it back. There will also be a box for pictures at the Brashear Post Office. These pictures will be put into a video that the church is making for our fourth of July celebration here in Brashear. Please try to get your picture or family members picture turned in so that you may be included in this project. Any questions, please call Brashear Baptist Church.

Dairy Festival time is here again. If you have ever wanted to see a hot air balloon up close, please try to go to Shannon Oaks Friday night for the glowing. Take a blanket, chair, picnic and be ready to be in awe of this beautiful site. Hope to see you there. The parade is Saturday morning and is always such fun. This is such a wonderful time for Hopkins County and Sulphur Springs.

School is almost out. Cannot believe how fast the school year seems to go now that I am retired. Please take a little extra time in driving around because there will be more children out and about.

Grasshoppers are a swarming at my mother's. We just do not have as many down here on County Road 1119. We have visited with the Muellers and they have a lot of grasshoppers, too. They live on highway 3389. It is amazing how the numbers differ from road to road.

Garden is doing well. Tom is picking green beans tomorrow. I guess I will be canning beans this week. Fun on the farm. Corn is looking great. Can't wait to taste fresh corn.

Summertime is here. I hope everyone enjoyed the cool weather on Monday. It was so nice. I found myself reaching for the heavier blanket on the bed. So nice. We missed the rain this past weekend. We sure could use some. Praying for rain.

I hope we all realize that we are so blessed to be living in a community that cares so much. Sulphur Springs Work Camp is starting up next week. This will be the seventh year, and they have painted over 100 houses for people who need help in fixing up their home. This is a true blessing for those who are unable to do this on their own.

Just got home from P31, and the women from Brashear gave $100 for medical expenses for the Carmody family. Sulphur Springs P31 have collected $2,000 for the Carmody family, and I know that this will be a blessing for the family. Phoebe seems to be responding to her treatments but it is still a long haul for her and the family.

I am anxious to hear from you if you have some news you would like to share with everyone. Just call me at 903-612-8806; email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ; or come down CR 1119. We love visitors. We have a number of swings and would love to sit and visit with a glass of cool iced tea. So come on down.
