What a week for United States! No matter your politics was Tuesday not exciting? It brings such hope for our country to climb out of this recession.

President Obama’s call for everyone to do some type of community service should make everyone stop and see what they have done lately for their own community. I sincerely hope that you made an effort to do something even if it was just to pick up some trash around your own home. Thank you for that.

We Brashear people should be thankful for all we have here in Brashear. A great sense of pride is one that I have experienced since writing this article. People I never knew have come up and mentioned with pride that they at one time lived in Brashear. Let’s all be proud of where we come from.

This week, I want to wish Billie and Guy Rushin a good week and that good health will be theirs for the New Year. Savoy Tutt is also one we should be saying prayers for this week. Savoy, we are thinking of you.

Tom and I would like to tell whoever was speeding down County Road 1119 that you hit our dog. He bled to death on Tuesday afternoon. We only wish you had stopped and let us know. Take care on these roads.

I mentioned that it was garden time again. Had a call from Chris Gibbons telling me where we could find onion plants. Thanks Chris. Also, called Stella Snider to see if she anything to add about flower gardens. She said that she had not gotten her beds ready but had been out pruning some shrubs and things. If you happened to read the Master Gardener column last week, she said there was still time to plant jonquils and daffodils. Take care of your irises; they may be getting ready to bloom real soon. Stella also said that she was a little under the weather, so we want to remember her in our prayers too.

Today has been beautiful. I took my grandson for a walk and enjoyed the nice weather. He fell asleep in the wagon. I guess DeDe wore him out. Another column down, so I just want to remind you to write, call or come by with information. Oh yeah, Clint thanks again for those turnips. I also froze some for later in the spring.
