Rain, such a pleasant sound. Love it!

I walked around the block this morning. It ook me over an hour; I was picking up cans along the way. I felt every bit of the three miles, though Brashear is a little cleaner now. Remind me not walk after 9 a.m. again.

School has started, so be very watchful for buses loading and unloading on our country roads.

Happy 50th anniversary to Gene and Pat George. Their family is hosting a reception for them at Brashear Baptist Church on Sunday. Drop on by and congratulate them on such a wonderful occasion.

You have probably heard that song, “You get by with a little help from our friends ... ” Well, I changed the words up a little to fit us because we had some great help from Bradley and Bryan Caudle last Saturday morning in getting some of our wilder cows up. They were great help.

First United Methodist Church of Sulphur Springs is providing the community a program called Stephen Ministry. It equips lay people to provide one-on-one Christian care to individuals in our community experiencing difficulties in their lives. Stephen ministers are ready to help with emotional and spiritual care when an individual is faced with a difficulty such as loss of a loved one, hospitalization, divorce, loneliness, etc. Confidentiality is an important part of the process. During this process, you will find that these caregivers are helpful, but God is the cure-giver. If you need more information, contact FUMC Sulphur Springs to have your questions answered. Their phone number is 903-885-2185. I wanted to get this out because there are a lot of people in our community that could use this support.

Well, that is all for this week. I would like everyone to be careful because of the high potential for fire danger. Check on those you know who live alone to make sure they are cool and have plenty to eat. Please remember to smile when you see people. A smile can mean the difference to so many people.

I want to remind you all to call me at 903-612-8806; e-mail me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ; or just come on by on CR 1119. You can't miss us; we are the ones with a bulldozer and four barns.
