We want to express condolences to the Stewart Buckholt family on the death of Lurline Buckholt. Lurline was 98 on Oct. 12, 2010. She was one you could always call on to remember things that happened in Brashear. Since I began writing Brashear News, she would call and give me answers or corrections. I so loved to talk to her. She had been living in Colorado close to her granddaughter since the death of her daughter last year. The funeral will be in Dallas sometime during the first of April. Lurline was a teacher and had taught in Brashear, Friendship and Dallas. I know many of you remember her with fond memories. If you have a great story about Lurline, please let me know and I will put it in the paper next week.

Countdown time for our first annual Brashear Bash! We are working hard to make this a great success. If you are one of those having a garage sale that day (April 2), let us know so we can make sure word gets out. I know that Sulphur Springs Farmer’s Market is open that day, and I hope to have some signs in town to remind people of our sale, too. Don’t forget that the hamburger sack lunch will be available around 11 a.m. We hope to wrap up around 2 p.m. If you know of anyone that would like to pick up some bargains around 2 p.m., let them know we will be on the ball field. (I think Tom is trying to hint that he does not want all of this stuff back in his shop. I would be willing to make a deal about that time.” This week’s tease is that if you need Halloween, Thanksgiving, fall, or Christmas decorations, be sure to come by and check it out.

I hope to have a Plant Swap on that day, too, so if you have some cuttings, plants or seeds, bring them up to swap. I will have some moonflower seeds, some ground cover cuttings and other items.

I have started running lately and am looking for a running partner, someone who does not mind running with an old lady. My goal is to run 3.1 miles so I can be ready for some 5K’s. I need someone to push me. I would like to run around Brashear. Please call me if you are interested.

Well, that is all for this week. Spring has sprung, so get out and enjoy all of God’s majesty. Remember to treat others as you would like to be treated. I would like to remind you all to call me at 903-612-8806; e-mail me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ; or just come on by on County Road 1119. You can’t miss us we are the ones with a bulldozer and four barns.
