I had a call to let everyone know that there is an emergency in Brashear. Coyotes have been seen in town in packs. They have been seen in yards in numbers on County Road 1115 and County Road 1199. Make sure you are keeping your small animals in pens or cages.

Tom saw a large one on CR 1119 around 4:30 p.m. yesterday. They are not waiting until night or early morning. Just be wary of these animals. He talked to Elton Stewart this morning and he is trapping a lot of possums and skunks. Beware of skunks, too!

I said I would give you a tease about some of the garage sale items at the upcoming Brashear Bash on Saturday, April 4. Among those items are: bread-maker, coffee-maker, Christmas knickknacks, books, counted cross-stitch patterns and pillows. That is just a small list of some of the things I have already received. All of these items will be sold to raise money for the Community Center.

Cumby Telephone purchased many of the animals in the Junior Livestock Show. I know those children appreciated their investment for their future. Their generosity is very much appreciated.

I am going to be putting information about the Brashear Bash on the Cumby Telephone website. I hope to reach some of the people who do not get the paper. We will also be putting fliers on doors in downtown. Please spread information around about our big Bash. Remember, the Bash is on April 2 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. In addition to the garage sale we will have and hamburger sack lunches for $5.

We are taking estimates on floor repair at the Community Center. We hope to get some of the major repairs done before the Homecoming in June. We have had one repairman look at the floor, but if you are a local repairman, please call to let us know if you would be interested in giving an estimate on these repairs.

Congratulations to Ricky and Beverly Haygood on the birth of their grandson on Feb. 1. The parents of Hudson Garner Jackson are Jamie and Kevin Jackson.

Well, that is all for this week. Please remember to smile when you see people. A smile can mean the difference to so many people. I want to remind you all to call me at 903-612-8806; e-mail me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ; or just come on by on CR 1119. You can’t miss us — we are the ones with a bulldozer and four barns.
