I need to apologize to everyone for last week. I just forgot. Weak excuse I know, and I probably wouldn’t accept it from one of my students, but old age has set in.

Last week, I attended the commissioner’s meeting set up by Beth Wisenbaker. Attendance was low. I met some new people and some people that were not in the Brashear area. They attended to get to voice their disappointment with the road in their area, just like the ones that attended from County Roads 1116 and 1157 who came to ask when and what they could expect in work done their road. I now know that it takes a big person to take on this job, and I so appreciate Beth and the effort she makes to help everyone out. Not everyone can be made happy, but she at least listened to their concerns. Let’s hope some of the concerns can be addressed before the weather gets bad.

I do not know about you but I am so glad the elections are over. The signs, calls, mailings, and television advertisements were, to say the least, overwhelming. I am praying for our leaders to make the right decisions for the people, not their pocketbooks.

We had two frosts last week. Does it seem a little early? The one on Saturday morning was really heavy. I think our squash may be finished. Going to miss fresh squash.

We have just gotten back from a short camping trip to Lake Bob Sandlin. It was beautiful and so restful. Walked, read and enjoyed the beautiful fall weather. If everyone could take advantage of just getting away for a short time, I think we would all be a little happier. What do you think?

Just heard about Barbara Stewart being attacked by a dog. She had to have one stitch but it could have been a lot worse. We hope she heals quickly without nightmares. Let’s remember our dogs may seem tame to us but not so with other people.

Elton Stewart is doing better after a little scare. Elton, take care of yourself so Louise can breathe a little easier.

Happy birthday to Russell Blevins, Nov. 1; Payton Mitchell and Teddy Jennings, Nov. 2; Colton Brantley, Nov. 3; Roy George, Brandi Oxford and Patsy Petty, Nov. 4; Peggie Weatherly, Nov. 5; and Larry Gore, Nov. 6.

Don’t forget the Brashear Community Center Chili Supper is coming up on Nov. 20 at 5 p.m. Remember also that the time changes this weekend, so don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour Sunday morning (fall backward).

Take care, and remember that there is a higher power looking out for all of us and we need to thank him a lot. Sure do love hearing from all of you, so keep it up.
