Brashear News for Oct. 20, 2010

Please take note that there will be no food served at the community meeting at the Brashear Community Center at the Thursday night meeting with our Precinct 1 Commissioner Beth Wisenbaker. I made an error when I wrote in last week’s news to “Come eat supper and hear what Beth has to say.”  I meant to say, “Eat before you come and find out answers to your questions.” Hope none of you got your hopes up for free food!

Don’t forget that the meeting tomorrow night at 7 p.m. is an open forum to discuss and answer questions about funding and roads in the Brashear area. Anyone interested is invited to hear what Beth has to say. She will be very open and hopes to have answers to your questions. Hope to see you there.

Fall is here! Love this weather but we sure do need some rain. The changing color of leaves looks wonderful. Try to get out and enjoy some of this beautiful weather.

I hope you went to the Cumby Telephone Customer Appreciation Dinner on Saturday. The barbecue dinner was catered by Murray Barbeque from Cooper. Excellent food! Each phone customer was presented with a great car emergency kit. Cumby Telephone is such a good company. Tom and I loved visiting with several people. Want to say a big hello to Vonda Kirby who lives on County Road 1157, she just happened to mention that she reads the Brashear News. Thank you, Vonda.

Tony Aguilar also introduced their new website, www.cumbytel.com. I have checked it out and love it. You can check the local weather forecast, look for garage sales in the area, post news and photos. In Tony’s presentation, he mentioned that the more hits the website receives it will eventually cost the Cumby Telephone nothing. Check it out. He also mentioned that if you got a window decal you can win prizes.

Elton Stewart called me last week to let me know that he was home and healing quickly after his surgery. Be sure to call and check up on him often to let him know we are all wishing him well.

Happy birthday to Kenneth Smith and Brenda White, Oct. 21; Dewayne Wilcox, Oct. 22; and Ricky Evans, Oct. 23.

News is slow this week. I want to wish everyone to take care and be safe. The day-to-day living is sometimes rough but remember there is a higher being to call for help. He loves us all.

Until next week, please call with news 903-612-8806; e-mail me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ; or just stop by CR 1119. We have had several people stop by and visit lately. We love it. Our small town is awesome.
