On Thursday Oct. 21, Beth Wisenbaker, our commissioner, is planning a meeting to discuss and answer questions about funding and roads,. Anyone interested is invited to hear what she has to say. She will be very open and hopes to have answers to your questions. She says this is not a political meeting (she is not running for re-election this year this year). Beth wants to hear all of your concerns and maybe but some of your worries to rest. While you are there, you may look over the Community Center and see if there is anything you can do to help maintain it. Hope to see you there, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m. Come eat supper and hear what Beth has to say.
On Saturday, Oct. 16, the youth of Brashear Baptist Church will be having a Fish Fry and Fall Festival. Come enjoy the fish at 5 p.m., and the festival will begin 6:30 p.m. There will be fun for children all ages. They are also planning to have Trunk or Treat on the evening of Oct. 30th. I will get the time to you soon.
I guess we here in Brashear have a cause, the Community Center. This building is an important part of our community and is slowly deteriorating. Carolyn Vaughan and Linda Allmon have worked very hard the last few years to maintain and manage the center. They are about to give up because of disinterest. I challenge everyone in Brashear to get involved in revitalizing an important part of our heritage here in Brashear.
We’ve planned a series of fundraisers for the Community Center for the next year. We hope you can come and help raise money, eat, and visit with neighbors from Brashear. The first event will be Saturday, Nov. 20, for a Chili Supper. It will start at 5 p.m. Come and help by bringing some gifts for door prizes and maybe your favorite desert. We would love to fill the Community Center.
Watch the paper for more dates of events to help support the Community Center.
Elton Stewart had his surgery on Tuesday, and I hope to hear real soon how he is doing. Please call me if you have an update.
