We went fishing last week. We used grasshoppers and I caught one catfish. We are going to try again tomorrow. We do so love a fish fry.
Mr. Jackie Brown stopped by to visit with Tom today. He is in the wild hog trapping business. He has not seen any lately in our area. They have been catching some around the new middle school on the extension of State Highway 11. One of our friends, Jennifer Philo, had one killed by the police in her front yard. Jennifer lives in that area. Scary. If any of you have need to get rid of some hogs, just call Jackie and Jesse Brown at 903-438-6440.
Ron Bramlett stopped by today also to visit. He has been out and about helping clear out a pool in Miller Grove. It seems like everyone is looking to be outdoors enjoying the beautiful weather.
May be getting new neighbors real soon. I will get back to you on their name.
Next Monday, we will be having an organizational meeting on how we can help our Community Center. If you have any ideas, please let us know. Would love to see if we can get the building cleaned up and ready for anyone to use.
In thinking about the Community Center, we were wondering if Brashear is know for anything particular? Commerce has a Bois D’arc Festival, Cooper has Chigger Fest, and of course Sulphur Springs has its Dairy Festival. I have found out there were several banks and cotton gins here in Brashear, but is there a nickname or something it is known for? Please let me know.
Billie Rushin visited with us on Sunday. She mentioned to us how nice the cemetery was looking. She has some fond memories of Brashear. She is looking for the pool that she was baptized in. She remembers that it was close to one of the cotton gins in Brashear.
Happy late birthday to Joe Clark on Oct. 2. Sorry it is late.
