What a difference a week can make! Are you enjoying this weather? It makes you just want to sit and let the cool breeze blow over you. I even got out and worked in the flower beds today — much-needed work, I must say, but I kept putting it off because it was soooo hot. Now some of the beds are cleaned out. Hope you have had some time to get out and enjoy the change in weather.

We want to express our sympathy to the McCool family on the death of Billy McCool and to the Soto family on the death of Luis Soto.

Congratulations to Josh Goodman on his marriage to Ashley Huckabee. Josh was a former student of mine a while back. It sure can make a teacher to feel old to see so many of her former students getting married and having families.

The Senior Citizen Expo is fast approaching on Oct. 12 and will be held at the Church of the Nazarene. Make sure you put that on your calendar. You will receive a lot of good information and can have your blood pressure and cholesterol checked.

Last evening around 6:30, Tom and I were driving around our back pasture and saw a pretty mature bobcat. That is the first one we have seen in a long time. Any other sightings or problems with bobcats in this area? I know I see one occasionally when driving into Sulphur Springs on the U.S. 67 spur.

The county road crew has been busy mowing and chopping, and we sure appreciate it. It makes visibility better and makes the roads easier to pass oncoming vehicles. Thanks!

Hope everyone has their fall garden going. Tom has a few yellow squash and some pretty zucchini plants growing. He hopes to get some turnips, collards and mustard greens up real soon. He does love his greens. If anyone has an interesting or unusual way to prepare them, please let me know. I do love new recipes.

Happy birthday to Carl Smith on Oct. 1; and Aleigh Bessonett, Donna Smith and Sarah Stout on Oct. 2.
