Brashear News for Sept. 22, 2010

E-mail Print PDF

Yes, folks, that is rain falling. Yeah! Just a little bit, but we welcome all that God has to give.

Fall Festival is over, and boy, was it a hot one. The old question came up a lot on Saturday, “Why not wait until it is a little cooler?” Do not know, but is it something that can be considered? Just wondering.

Our sympathies go to the Dicken family on the death of Dahlia Dicken last week.

Congratulations to the Koon family on the marriage of their son, Kyle, last weekend.

Happy birthday to Geary Allman, JoAnn Chapin and Esther George on Sept. 24, and Jennifer Darrow on Sept. 26.

Hope everyone has had the opportunity to see the evening sky. Simply spectacular! On the news last night, they said this is the closest Jupiter has come since 1963. It will be found on the east horizon just after sundown. We had some friends that saw some of its moons using just regular binoculars. Try to get out and do some star gazing. I actually saw two falling stars last week.

We need another nomination for Yard of the Month. Just let me know the name and address. I will turn the information in to the Hopkins County Master Gardeners for consideration. Thanks!

As you can tell, Brashear is kind of quiet right now. Please call and let me know if you have any news you would like to share. Hope everyone enjoyed the Stew Festival. Remember to call me at 903-612-8806; e-mail me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or just drive over to County Road 1119 and visit for a while. Until next week, remember that there are others out there who need your smile, your love, or just a kind word.
