Hope you got some of the rain. It was refreshing, just not enough. The humidity has been thick enough to cut it with a knife. I sincerely hope everyone is taking necessary precautions when theyare out of doors.
Glen George came by the other day to show off one of his BIG cantaloupes. He said that he got the seeds from a man who used to live here in Brashear. He had brought the seeds from Tennessee. The cantaloupe probably weighed 13 pounds or more. Our cantaloupes have not been that big but they sure are tasty. Our friend Della Potts came by and picked up some. We hope she is enjoying them.
I received an email from a Billy Robinson, who used to live in Reilly Springs. He now lives in Oklahoma and enjoys reading the Reilly Springs and Brashear News. He was inquiring about our dog that eats cantaloupes. He thought maybe it might be a raccoon. I had to tell him that I had actually seen the dog roll the cantaloupe out of the garden and eat it. He must really like them because he just finished another one.
Happy birthday to Keisha Edwards, 7/28; Kim McCarty and Stacy McDonald, 7/30; and Kim Willingham, 8/1. May your birthday be one filled with love and joy.
I would like to nominate a yard in Brashear for Yard of the Month. Tom attended a Master Gardener meeting last week and got a form. So just email me or call me with an address for nomination. Thanks.
