We were out of pocket last week as we took a little camping trip to Arkansas to just enjoy the weather. We read a lot, hiked and really ate well. We seem to eat really good when we go camping. The fresh air does something to us. So then we come back and diet. Ha!
Everyone from Brashear wants to extend their condolences to the family of Lynn Weaver. Also, I made a mistake on the congratulations to the Gafford son on graduation. I named the wrong son. It was Jason Gafford who recently graduated from PJC. Congratulations to you, Jason. Congratulations are also in order for Kara Phillips and Tyler Higginbotham on their graduation from Sulphur Springs High School.
And I Just visited with Louise Stewart and their grandson, Brady Stewart, graduates this Friday night from Miller Grove High School. Congratulations to Brady. If there is someone I have left out, please let me know.
It was very nice that someone took the time to put flags on the veterans’ graves in the Brashear Cemetery. It was such a nice gesture. If you have a family member buried there and want to make sure a flag was placed on the grave, let me know. I will forward this information to the necessary party.
The fence at Brashear Cemetery seems to have had an accident. I hope no one was injured but I also hope it gets repaired quickly.
The plums are almost ripe, and that means plum jelly time! Green beans are almost ready, so that means I will be busy canning this next week.
The rain on Monday was nice but we sooo need some more rain. Everyone is getting their hay cut, and now the rain is desperately needed for a new hay crop and for the gardens around town.
Enjoyed having dinner with some nice people last Friday night: Gene and Pat George, Louise and Elton Stewart, Lynndale and Ann Sewell, and Gerald and Carlotta Garner. Sure had a good time.
This is a warning for everyone to not get too much sun this weekend. They are predicting triple digit temperatures. Hard to believe it is only the beginning of June and here we are experiencing 100 degree plus temperatures. Hot summer is coming quickly.
