The Chicago-based aerospace giant has been hit by sharply lower orders for commercial planes this year as the recession deepens and air travel wanes. Airlines have cut flights and some carriers have delayed orders or deliveries of new jets.
But Boeing built a record backlog of orders before the economic slowdown hit last fall, and executives say they expect to fulfill all orders scheduled for 2009.
Boeing delivered 115 jetliners during the first quarter of 2008.
