PINE FOREST – With the Pine Forest Community Center parking lot full of 4-wheel drive trucks in February, it could only mean one thing – the start of the second annual Texas Big Nasty Hog Contest.

“Over 35 teams have signed up so far,” said Jeremy Sickles, co-founder of the Bluecollar Bowhunter and sponsor of the TBNH Contest, on Saturday afternoon. The contest is currently underway, but this year the BCB team has extended the registration date an extra week to accommodate the growing number of teams interested in competing.

The BCB have stirred quite an interest in the bowhunting sport from all outlets of the media. They are currently participating in a weekly Saturday morning outdoor talk radio show that airs on 99.7 The Rebel from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. They will also be featured in ABC’s Wednesday night’s newscast at 10 p.m. along with interest by ESPN.

In addition to these photos, an extended story of the second annual contest registration will be in the Weekend edition of the Outdoors Page for the News-Telegram.

The BCB have footage compiled into a DVD from last year’s TBNH Contest for sale on their website at www.bluecollarbowhunters.com.

Many other sponsors were on hand for the opening ceremonies this past Saturday as well as fun sporting contests for prizes. Some sponsors available were Flatline Outdoors, Great Adventures Outdoors, i-Kam Xtreme 3.0, Wildleaf Design and several others. According to the BCB team the contest is 100 percent payout. Last year almost $10,000 worth of hunting trips and prizes were given away.

Those looking to register can do so by visiting the website www.TexasBigNastyHogContest.com. The contest wraps up on Monday, March 8 at 12 a.m.
