End-of-the-year reaps fun times as a reward for good students
Amy Northcutt, Sulphur Bluff elementary principal, along with school personnel Tressie South, Sherrie Thompson, and Janiece Joslin, took SBISD students in grades 4-6 out to Coleman Lake as school is winding down for the 2008-09 school year so that they could spend their “Bear Bucks”. The only grades eligible to earn Bear Bucks were grades 4-6. One of the activities that they could use their Bear Bucks on was an afternoon of fishing at Coleman Lake. The students have earned thes bucks throughout the year for making good grades, returning their homework on time, their good behavior, making the honor roll, and attendance.
Students have been offered several choices of how to spend their bucks.
In addition to the fishing trip, there was a trip to Braum's, a trip to the Skate Park, water slide Fun Day at the school, slices of pizza, a Bear Bucks auction where students could buy the opportunity to shadow a teacher or other school personnel for the day.
