Family First Medical Center at 111 Medical Circle is the newest family medicine clinic in town and the office of Dr. Jeff Smith.
Dr. Smith came to Sulphur Springs from Waco, where he just completed his residency training and where he served as chief resident his final year. Prior to that, Dr. Smith graduated near the top of his class at Texas Tech’s medical school.
Both originally from the Dallas area, Dr. Smith and his wife Kari chose Sulphur Springs first and foremost because it seemed like the perfect place to raise their young family of four children. Dr. Smith also enjoyed the idea of being able to practice the full scope of Family Medicine—seeing patients of all ages both in the clinic and in the hospital.
Dr. Smith has set up a unique office that utilizes his interests and skills with the latest technologies to help his patients.
First off, his medical charting and records are entirely electronic. This allows Dr. Smith easy access to his patient’s charts no matter where he is. Tests and lab results are also electronically received into these records. This allows for easier tracking of accurate results and safer handling of prescriptions and refills.
Another priority at Family First Medical Center is scheduling patients so that they can be seen when they need to be seen--same day scheduling and walk-ins are almost always possible with little to no waiting time. Also, with only Dr. Smith in the office, patients enjoy a continuity of their care over the long term.
Dr. Smith enjoys performing a variety of procedures—everything from removing a toenail in the office to screening colonoscopies at the hospital. In addition, Dr. Smith has a special focus on skin procedures in the office—including the use of newer radiofrequency surgery.
Along the same lines of skin surgery is the booming new field of aesthetic medicine. Dr. Smith has had training both in medical school and after residency with newer procedures such as Botox® and collagen injections, chemical peels, and even some of the newest laser therapies.
Preventive medicine is also an important aspect of family medicine. Dr. Smith’s father, Vance, studied at the Harvard School of Public Health and shares his experience in working with patients seeking smoking cessation and weight loss help.
Visit the newly renovated office across the street behind the hospital. Dana Wilhite is the experienced receptionist and Paula Brito is Dr. Smith’s indispensable medical assistant.
The entire staff looks forward to meeting you!
