Hopkins County Memorial Hospital, a 100 bed facility, will celebrate 60 years of service to the community in September, 2009. A 60 year celebration is planned for Thursday, September 3 from 5:30-7:30. Memorial Hospital is dedicated to providing medical care to the 30,000 residents who live within the 800 square miles of Hopkins County and neighboring counties.
Our vision is to have patients choose our hospital over other available options and to recommend Memorial Hospital to their family and friends. Supported by a staff of more than 40 physicians, we offer a wide spectrum of services including a full service emergency department that is staffed 24 hours a day and a mobile intensive care ambulance service.
Advanced Heart Care at Memorial is the name chosen for the new cardiac catheterization area recently completed at Memorial Hospital. We are also pleased to announce a new partnership with the cardiologist group, Advanced Heart CareDr. Gladden and members of his group began treating patients 5 days a week starting January 5, 2009. Hospice at Memorial provides care for terminally ill patients and their families. It is a hospital-based, physician-directed, nurse-coordinated home care approach to the special needs of the terminally ill.
CARE Unit at Memorial is a 10-bed acute, inpatient rehabilitation program located on the lower floor of the Women’s Pavilion. The CARE unit provides quality, comprehensive care for those recovering from brain injury, stroke, major multiple trauma, amputation, degenerative neurological disorders, orthopedic injury, arthritis, spinal cord injury, burns and congenital deformities.
Memorial Medical Plaza is the latest addition to the hospital with the first floor of the 32,000-square-foot medical office building housing the new HealthPlex at Memorial, a modern outpatient physical rehabilitation center that offers comprehensive rehabilitation services including a therapeutic pool. The additional two floors accommodate physician offices.
Wound Care at Memorial offers a comprehensive center which provides wound care services and hyperbaric medicine to the community. Out specially trained staff at the center is dedicated to providing comprehensive treatment using the most technologically advanced wound care therapy. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is used as an adjunctive treatment for problematic, non-healing wounds.

Memorial Hospital Expansion
Hopkins County Memorial Hospital completed part of the first phase of the $36 million expansion when they opened the new Emergency Department on Wednesday, April 29th. The rest of the first phase which includes a new patient tower with private rooms and a new front lobby and expanded Johnnie Masters Gift Shop will open in June, 2009. The second phase of the construction project is projected to be complete by February, 2010. The expansion will encompass 27,959 new square feet and 39,098 renovated square feet. Memorial Hospital growing to meet the needs of our community.
