The good folks at Viking/Penguin Books have partnered with the News-Telegram to offer one lucky reader a paperback copy of Deborah Harnkess’ best-selling debut, “A Discovery of Witches,” the first volume in the “All Souls Triology.”
Harkness’ official website introduces the novel’s plot: “When historian Diana Bishop opens a bewitched alchemical manuscript in Oxford’s Bodleian Library it represents an unwelcome intrusion of magic into her carefully ordinary life. Though descended from a long line of witches, she is determined to remain untouched by her family’s legacy. She banishes the manuscript to the stacks, but Diana finds it impossible to hold the world of magic at bay any longer.”
“‘A Discovery of Witches’ was the most fun I had reading a book last year,” said arts editor Terry Mathews. “Think ‘Twilight’ with less angst and more magic.”
Harkness’ second book, “Shadow of Night,” is due for release this summer.
