The Boy Scouts were having a District Camp-O-Ree on the beach at the Kaneohe Marine Corps Base this weekend. At 8:00 PM we had just started the Campfire Program when everyones cell phones started ringing. Moms alerting everyone to the tsunami warning… then we heard the Civil Defense Sirens going off. The cell phones were louder. LOL Camp out was officially canceled… Within minutes an orderly evacuation was under way, everyone headed home to higher ground. On the drive home, traffic was a mad house. Every intersection around a gas station was blocked by 40 or 50 cars lined up trying to get gas.

This is a letter I sent to the Star-Advertiser this morning.

Letters to the Editor
How to "prepare for an emergency"... keep at least a ½ tank of gas in ones car. The only problem I saw on Saturday night was a line of 40 or 50 cars at every gas station blocking nearby intersections to through traffic. Be Prepared !
