On the Greek island of Patmos, is the Cave of the Apocalypse, now a chapel at the heart of the convent of "Apokalipsis."
St. John the Divine stayed here during his exile by the Emperor Domitian and dictated the Book of Revelation to his disciple, Prochoros, around A.D. 95.
This is the 2nd most Holy site in the Christian world. The only other site outside of the Jerusalem where Christ appeared to one of his disciples.
43 steep steps lead down into the cave, which still consists of the original living rock. The cave is a magnificent site, visited by people from all over the world. Highlights include the stone where St. John supposedly laid his head and the stand where Prochoros wrote.
Plaque outside the chapel.
Holy Cave Of The Apocalypse.
I WAS ON THE ISLAND OF PATMOS.
