I don't play those games Truc. You posted you didn't know who had started the food topic, I'm sorry I didn't realize it was mentioned at the meeting.

Has anyone else noticed the sudden "nothingness" from the hospital board or the CEO in the local paper? I guess too much publicity revealing too many of their problems has pushed them underground for a while.
*What changes have they made to improve operating costs?
* Has their monthly operating budget improved in dramatic fashion, or are they still LOSING between $300,000.00 and $400,000.00 PER MONTH?
* How's that purchase of the Physican's Group going?
* What's the ROI on their initial million dollar investment?
Monthly?
Yearly?
No, Board......No, CEO, we're not forgetting, and we're not going away........

Dr Huffman is leaving. Cited that he had a difference of opinion with medical group. Hate to see him go.

They are "trying" to replace people that found job in other locations for more money.

and now we see another article in the newspaper about more delays and higher than expected costs. correct me if i'm wrong, but i think the article said about $4 MILLION (yes, that's $4,000,000) on this repair from the leak in september. and the repairs aren't expected to be completed until maybe march.
yes, SOME of the repairs were covered by insurance....but the bulk of the expenses involved are not.
asbestos abatement, steel removal, ceiling replacement (since it was plaster) etc.

how much of this is a result of shoddy workmanship & lack of supervision on the part of the hospital? could any of the costs be recouped from the original contractors if they can prove that it was poor or substandard work?

remember good people of SS and hopkins county - you'll be the ones to fund this repair by either higher taxes or higher costs when you use the facilities!

Oh Heartandmind,
You haven't seen anything yet. Not only will they stick us, the taxpayers for their short comings, but they're also going to need funds for attorney's fees for another block buster headed their way.
Hey, hospital board! How's that physicans group purchase working out?
Great "return on your investment", huh?

I wonder if they have increased the rates at the clinic yet, if not, this will be the reasoning behind it.

The "End in sight" will be when we have a NEW hospital CEO, and some NEW people on the hospital board..........

no, the only "end in sight" is our own, when we bend over and have to keep taking it......

looks like it's time to rethink that hospital board composition - maybe find new blood that's ticked enough and savvy enough to actually do something about their rates and quality of service.

The main problem with our current hospital CEO, the current hospital board, and even the current Commissioners Court, is their solutions to everything by simply trading funds around and/or raising taxes. The fact is, they ALL suffer from "Normalcy Bias". Their programs, (just like the federal govt.s), are not substainable at the current levels and will eventually implode. Most of them are either in a state of confusion, don't have a clue, refuse to make the hard cuts, (believe me, it'll hurt a lot more later...), or simply could care less as long as the gravy train tax dollars flow. The main problem will be, however, that they will bleed out and take down every Hopkins County taxpayer with them as long as we continue to allow them to function in this manner. If they refuse to make the hard decisions, REPLACE THEM.
