What a clever idea, a designated student parking space.

I got mixed views on this one. I can see how the kids would love the idea -- but man, the potential for vandalism and hijinks is just HUGE!! Let's face it -- kids are mean!! LOL

I also have mixed feelings about designated parking. Not all students and families want to spend their hard earned money for a parking space, nor can some afford to spend it that way. Pier pressure is bad enough as it is, don't add to it.

I can see maybe reserving sections for seniors, juniors, et al, but personal spaces, no. Like JB said the possibility for vandalism is huge, and who will bear the cost of cleaning that up. First come first served always worked when I was going to school, and that is a tradition that never goes out of style. I don't like the expression "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", but in this case I think it applies.

Designate spots for "A" honor roll parking for students. First come first serve for the rest.

No, I'm going with the designated parking spaces on this one.
At least give it a try. If it doesn't work out, they can always cancel it next year.

As for cost... $20 is cheep. These kids have money. Look at the cars they drive,... the clothes they wear...... the music they buy..... the i-Pod and cell phones.... the food they eat.
(We adults should be so lucky)
It's their choice where they put that $20.

As for first choice of parking going for "A" students.....
With my grades, I'd be lucky to be able to park on the street.

I like this idea Snipe -- but the "A" honor roll changes every 6 weeks -- so changing the spots every few weeks would be kind of a mess. But maybe a special designation for "A" honor roll kids would work!

Didn't think about that, and you're right.

Really a wild thought here...if you don't pass all your classes, no car allowed at school at all until the next six weeks report cards. Just thinking about the ride in with the parents or even worse, on the bus. I know I would be motivated! LOL

Great idea, but it probably needs to have the lead balloon delivered with it.
