EDIT: On the other hand...why was only ONE person attacked? Hmmmm.

What are you trying to say here?

AJ has been hit, jbourne has been hit, trucdoc has been hit, and these are just the ones who have recently noticed it.

Hey, JB, I agree with Stan. As a "newbie" ( I put the word in quotation marks because I might have spelled it incorrectly!) I think the "bumping off" someone's karma is a dirty shame. I give you a bump up in the world too.

Thanks for the bumps ....... but i'm still trying to figure out Stan's post ... I'm thinking he just "dissed" me :( .... then again maybe not??? I'm soooo confused!

I wish I spoke Hawaiian!!!

You are so welcome, JB. Stan is a former local. He understands our lingo.

I still consider "Texan" as my first language.
"It's real good to be able to understand what you folks are a say'n when I'm a talik'n to ya."

But seriously....
I get really confused when I try speaking Japanese or Spanish.
I also tend to toss in a few Hawaiian, Pigeon English, and Southern words.
I get strange looks from the people I'm trying to talk to)
If I just speak without thinking about what I want to say it usually comes out OK.
(I'm still "thinking" in English too much)

The nice thing is... The Japanese consider their language too difficult for an outsider to learn,
They figure I'm trying my best at something I'll never learn so they let me get away with grammer the average Japanese speaker would never be allowed to get away with.

Most Spanish speakers are thrilled that I'm even trying to speak their language and make me speak only Spanish to help me learn faster.
Why let the truth stand in the way of a good fish story?

Oh, I understand that. I was just talking about this one instance. I got shot TWICE when I wasn't looking and it hurts....BAD.

When I first moved here, thirty-one years ago, I thought I would need a translator. East Texan-ese was hard to understand. Now, when I go back to Weatherford, I am teased because they don't understand me! Oh, well!

welcome to east texas! LOL.....

recently i sent on vacation to SLC, utah.....and no matter how hard i tried to leave the texan at home, the southerner out of conversations.....i still got the dumb looks when i'd order a meal.

case in point : went to a steak place called "Lone Star"....I know, I know. But I was tired of the Denny's by the hotel....LOL. Anyway, went in, ordered my steak-n-tater-n-salad with ray-unch dressin'. so far, so good. looked at the beer list....and to my dismay, NO SHINER! how can you have a steak place named for our great state WITHOUT our great beer? sheesh. i spoke with the manager & about all i got was a "huh? what's shiner?" with an eye roll (he was all of 20 or so....). sheesh.
